Gerald the elephant discovers that there is something worse than a bird on your head-- two birds on your head! Piggie will try to help her best friend.

During the activities, we listened to bird calls on Spotify!

There Is a Bird On Your Head Balancing Challenge

Unfortunately, I did not snap any pictures of this game.  I made a pretend bird nest using brown construction paper, a Styrofoam bowl, and tape.  Then, I placed an Easter egg in the nest.  The children got to take turns balancing the pretend nest on their heads and walking around the library.

Interactive Birds' Nests

Bilingual Story Time

03/16/2019

We were very honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with the University of North Alabama's Latin American literature class to create a bilingual program for our community last Saturday.

Dr. Reynolds and her class read (and acted out) two stories and then sang a Spanish version of Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.

Afterwards, the children had about one hour to visit four different craft stations, enjoy a snack, and take pictures at a photo booth.

Filled with infectious humor and enthusiasm, Say Hola to Spanish makes learning more than seventy common Spanish words fun and easy.

The UNA class that instructed our bilingual story time program were kind enough to donate a copy of this book to our library.  Be sure to check it out sometime!

The Princess and the Pea gets a fresh twist in this charming bilingual retelling, winner of the Pura Belpré Medal for Illustration.
El príncipe knows this girl is the one for him, but, as usual, his mother doesn’t agree.

The queen has a secret test in mind to see if this girl is really a princesa, but the prince might just have a sneaky plan, too . . .

Readers will be enchanted by this Latino twist on the classic story, and captivated by the vibrant art inspired by the culture of Peru.

Here is a shout out to Miss Jenna who responsible for making this program happen!
